I saw Amy and her friends join the fight. Then I saw Katie and Ann suddenly appear above us. She flew down quickly, and they joined us.
Branan was taken by Amy. I started fighting two people who ran out of the ruins into the fray. Seitheach noticed, smiling. "My third-in-commands and bodyguards, Roan and Ril." I gritted my teeth and readied my bow. I shot an arrow at Roan but it bounced off. Forcefield. Cheater. I drew my sword. If this came to a two on one fight with swords, they had the advantage of brute strength. But I had the advantage of agility and being smaller and harder to hit. When Roan and Ril neared me they pulled out purple orbs. Were they magicians? I studied them with Psychic. No, it was prepared magic. One readied his arm. I dodged just in time to get away from the orb. It flew past my head and exploded near a tree. The other one, Ril, threw his well I was off balance. I tried to dodge but fell over and the orb exploded near my hand. I gasped as it burned my palm. Rolling to my feet with difficulty, I grabbed my sword. I'd dropped it earlier. Ril and Roan pulled out theirs with metallic shings. I feinted forward, and Ril took the bait. I pushed away his sword with Psychic and he stumbled back, off balance. I knocked him out with the pommel of my sword. "Roan! Catch me!" I yelled and ran into the forest.
Ah, then I was in my element. I loved the forest. I ran a good distance into the woods and climbed a sturdy pine. "Roooan!" I called, and the man soon crashed through the brush, looking around wildly. Roan was smarter than Ril, but neither had very good IQs. Bodyguards tend to be more brawn that brain. If I could outsmart him...
I swung to a different tree as quietly as I could. Roan tried to climb the pine I'd scaled earlier, but he was bulky and kept sliding or falling down. Takes points for the dignity factor, I must say. I hoped, just hoped that I was right, aimed, and fired my longbow.
It bounced off his forcefield. I was wrong. And now he knew where I was.
I wildly jumped from tree to tree, trying to lose Roan. He kept crushing through, finding me. Then, the worst happened.
An arrow whizzed by my ear.
Roan had a crossbow.
