As soon as we'd lifted into the air I had no control over the flight. It was like. . . like a strong wind was blowing me like a kite steadily towards some unknown destination. I couldn't control where I was going. Then my mind went dark and a light came towards me. A human figure formed, and it called to me. "Katie. Come." I went with the stranger. She was maybe forty-five years old, but she had graying hair already. "Katie Bright, you have unlocked your power. Congratulations. But I must warn you of its one fatal flaw. When flying, you can only follow the Winds. They guide you to where you need to be. But not necessarily where you want to be." Katie nodded. "As you get older and more experienced you may be able to control which wind you will travel on. But never where you travel." Katie nodded again, then frowned. "Who are you?" she asked. The stranger lowered her head in a small bow, smiling. "I am Arinda Brisk." Katie didn't know who that was, but she was glad to actually know who the person was. "Thank you." Arinda shook here head, still smiling, but a little sad. "No, Katie Bright. Thank you." So many teachers and different leaders had said that to her in her life. But this time it felt sincere. She smiled at the woman and felt her slowly slipping away. . .
I woke up, holding on to Ann and floating downwards. It was a clear day, so I could see what was going on below. "Katie..." Ann said. I nodded. I could see what was going on. I made us drop faster. Marie and another girl - older - were fighting someone.
And he looked dangerous.
